Chartering a Yacht at Koh Chang is unlike any other charter holiday; less than 20 yachts are plying these waters amongst over 50 islands. The balance of high-end boutique resorts and small beach bungalows is just about perfect. You can arrange a five-star meal tonight and take sunset cocktails at a tiny beach bar tomorrow, all at amazingly affordable prices. Ashore, explore secluded waterfalls just a short hike away, swimming with baby elephants on white sandy beaches and exploring quaint fishing villages that offer excellent photo opportunities to those photographers amongst us, not to mention the super-fresh seafood. All of this, and often you'll have it all to yourself!
Domestic flights run from Bangkok to Trat airport three times a day and take about an hour, then to the island by car. A minivan from downtown Bangkok will take 5 hours to get to the mainland-side car-ferry terminal.
Sailing conditions in Koh Chang are safe and "cruisie" there's plenty of sailing to be done, but you're not going to be rail-down with crew hanging on in fear of their life! There is no stress over finding a mooring for the night nor exorbitant mooring or marina fees; just "drop the pick" at your favourite spot.
The Koh Chang sailing season is through the Northeast monsoon, starting in October and through to May. With more predictable winds and the lowest temperature, the peak season is mid-December through February. The shoulder season on either side still offers excellent sailing, though temperatures peak in April.
